“Creating Choral Artistry” workshop By Henry Leck

This workshop is open to anyone, including music education students and private voice instructors, who want to learn from the best in choral artistry. Maestro Henry Leck will cover practical and helpful topics such as vocal techniques for the young singer, boys changing voice with adolescent boys as demonstrators, as well as conduct a Reading Session.

Workshop Fee:                    $45.00 per person, discounted to $25 for college students

Fee includes one free packet of choral octavos for the Reading Session and light refreshments served from 5:30-6:00 pm, before the workshop.

“Creating Artistry” Workshop to be held in the Tri-Valley by Renowned Conductor Henry Leck

Henry Leck is an internationally recognized choral director, Professor Emeritus at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Founder and Conductor Laureate of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Mr. Leck is widely known as a specialist in choral techniques, the child’s voice, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Laban and the boy’s changing voice. He has produced four teaching videos titled Vocal Techniques for the Young Singer, The Boy’s Expanding Voice: Take the High Road, Creating Artistry through Movement, Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Creating Artistry with the Male Maturing Voice. He is also the editor of two nationally known choral series published by Hal Leonard Corporation and Colla Voce, Inc, and author of a textbook titled, Creating Artistry through Choral Excellence. Mr. Leck has impacted thousands of young musicians and teachers through his dedication to choral excellence and the idea that children can perform music with artistry and understanding. Invited and organized by Cantabella Children’s Chorus, he now brings his expert knowledge to the Tri-Valley in his “Creating Choral Artistry” workshop to be held on Friday, April 20th from 6:00-9:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 4001 Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton. This hands-on workshop is open to all music professionals, educators and students, or, anyone who is curious or interested in learning about choral artistry in the Bay area and beyond. The workshop fee is very nominal at $45/participant and $25/college student (ID required). Mr. Leck will present and demonstrate helpful topics such as vocal techniques for the young singer, boy’s expanding voice, as well as conduct a Reading Session. A lab choir of young singers and adolescent boys from the Cantabella Children’s Chorus will be on hand for demonstrations at the workshop. As a bonus, a free packet of choral octavos for the Reading Session and complimentary light refreshments will be reserved and guaranteed for every participant who registers before March 20.  Refreshments will be served from 5:30 – 6:00 PM prior to the workshop, offering an opportunity for networking and conversation with musicians and peers in the community, as well as with Mr. Leck.
